Cuts 1/4"-18 NPT pipe threads with four high-speed steel flutes for clean starts
The Westward 5PXH2 is a new pipe tap designed to cut internal NPT threads in pipe and conduit. It uses high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish and a right-hand semi-bottoming chamfer. Four flutes provide chip clearance for general-purpose threading work.
This tap suits plumbers and mechanics who need to create standard NPT threads in pipe or conduit. It is not for buyers who need a different thread form, a different pitch, or a coated tool for high-volume production.
The single specification that decides fit is the 1/4"-18 NPT thread size. The tap produces a Class 3B fit with a 75 percent thread depth when used with the specified drill size.
Measured against everything we stock in Utility & Specialty Hand Tools, at today’s prices. Recalculated every night.

High-speed steel resists heat well; using cutting fluid keeps temperatures manageable during long sessions.
The tap has a standard 1/4" NPT shank; use a tap wrench or T-handle sized for that diameter.
