This Westward spiral point tap cuts internal threads to the #10-24 UNC standard. It is intended for machinists and maintenance technicians who need to produce Class 3B fit threads in through-hole applications. The right-hand cutting direction suits conventional tapping operations. High-speed steel construction provides the hardness required for general-purpose threading work.

Two-Flute Chip Clearance

The two-flute design pushes chips ahead of the tap in through holes, reducing the risk of clogging in ductile materials such as mild steel and aluminium. A 7/8 inch thread length on a 2 3/8 inch overall body gives enough reach for typical plate and bracket thicknesses. The H3 thread limit and uncoated bright finish work well in free-machining alloys where coolant can be applied. Very hard or abrasive alloys will wear the cutting edges more quickly.

Replaces Worn or Undersized Taps

This tap replaces a dull or damaged #10-24 tool when thread quality degrades or gauging fails. The step up is worth it when an existing tap produces oversize threads, chips load the flutes, or the surface finish becomes unacceptable. It is not suited for blind holes where chips must be pulled upward, nor for high-volume production runs that demand coated or carbide tooling for extended life.
