A 1/16"-27 NPT pipe tap with four flutes and semi-bottoming design for threading holes
The Westward 5TWT5 is a pipe tap for cutting NPT threads at 1/16 inch - 27. It is a semi-bottoming design with four flutes made from high speed steel. This tool suits maintenance technicians and plumbers who need to create or repair tapered pipe threads in metal.
The tap has an overall length of 2 1/8 in and a thread length of 11/16 in. It uses a 75 percent thread drill size C and meets a class of fit 3B. It handles standard NPT thread cutting in compatible materials but is not suited for through-hole tapping or larger pipe sizes.
The bright uncoated surface reduces cost and works well in softer metals. Four flutes provide balanced chip evacuation and thread finish for the specified thread size. No coating or alternative flute configurations are included.

The semi-bottoming design with 11/16" thread length lets it cut full threads near the bottom of a blind hole without needing full clearance.
Check thread engagement with an NPT ring gauge; the 75 percent drill size C and 4 flutes should yield a tight, uniform seal when torqued.
Only the tap itself is supplied; a compatible tap wrench and the correct size C drill bit must be purchased separately.
