Westward 2 Inch NPT Pipe Tap

The Westward 5TWU5 is a new high-speed steel pipe tap designed to cut 2 inch NPT threads with an 11-1/2 thread count. Its semi-bottoming design and seven flutes suit maintenance and fabrication tasks where right-hand internal threads are required in pipe or conduit.

Verify Thread Specification Before Ordering

Confirm that the workpiece requires a 2 inch nominal size with 11-1/2 threads per inch and an NPT thread form. The tap produces a Class 3B fit with a 1 3/4 inch thread length, so ensure your material thickness and hole preparation match these parameters.

High-Speed Steel Construction With Bright Finish

The uncoated bright surface resists galling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals while the seven-flute geometry promotes chip evacuation during hand or machine tapping. Right-hand cutting action and semi-bottoming chamfer allow threading close to the bottom of blind holes.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the Westward 5TWU5 pipe tap?

The box contains the Westward 5TWU5 pipe tap itself. No additional accessories or cutting fluid are included.

Which thread size and flute count should I choose for a 2-inch NPT fitting?

Choose the 2"-11-1/2 size with 7 flutes, as this matches the standard NPT specification for that nominal diameter.

What does the 4 1/2 inch overall length mean when I am tapping a 2-inch pipe?

The 4 1/2 inch overall length provides sufficient reach for standard 2-inch pipe couplings while the 1 3/4 inch thread length cuts the required engagement depth.
