1/8" High Speed Steel Jobber Bit

The Westward 5UDD1 is a 1/8 inch jobber length drill bit made from high speed steel. It suits general purpose drilling in metal, wood and plastic for trade and DIY users.

Black and gold finish with split point

The black and gold surface treatment helps identify the bit and reduces wear during use. A 135 degree split point allows the bit to start on contact without a centre punch and reduces walking on hard surfaces.

Fractional sizing limits metric interchangeability

The bit is sized at .1250 inch decimal equivalent and follows fractional inch standards. Users working to metric specifications will need a separate metric bit to match required hole diameters.

Questions about this item

What does the 135° split point mean for drilling accuracy?

The 135-degree split point reduces walking and starts holes cleanly without a centre punch, improving precision on metal and hard materials.

What shank size and length class does this bit use for chuck fit?

The 1/8-inch decimal .1250 shank fits standard three-jaw chucks and the jobber length provides typical flute and overall length for general-purpose drilling.

How should the bit be secured to avoid slippage during use?

Tighten the chuck fully on the smooth shank with the jaws aligned on the flats if present; the common error is leaving the chuck loose or gripping only the flutes.
