A 9/64 inch high-speed steel jobber drill bit with a 135-degree split point for accurate starts
This Westward drill bit is made from high-speed steel with a black and gold finish. The 135 degree split point helps the bit start on contact and reduces wandering. It is suited for general-purpose drilling in metal, wood and plastic where a fractional-inch size is required.
The 9/64 inch diameter matches legacy hardware and imperial drawings without conversion. The split point centres itself, so a centre punch is often unnecessary, saving a step in repetitive work. The jobber length provides standard reach for through-holes and moderate-depth drilling.
High-speed steel retains hardness as the tip temperature rises during extended drilling. The 135 degree point distributes cutting forces over a wider angle, slowing edge wear when holes are drilled in succession. The black and gold surface treatment resists corrosion between uses.

The 135° split point on this high-speed steel bit resists walking and reduces thrust, so it stays sharp longer in tough materials, but exact wear life depends on feed pressure and coolant use.
High-speed steel construction handles heat better than carbon steel, yet prolonged stainless work will still raise temperature; use cutting fluid and peck cycles to keep the bit from discolouring.
The 9/64 in shank fits any standard 3/8 in or 1/2 in drill chuck that closes down to .1406 in, so a common keyless or keyed chuck on a corded or cordless drill will hold it securely.
