Drills 3/16 in holes with a 135-degree split point in high-speed steel
The Westward 5UDD5 is a fractional-inch drill bit made from high-speed steel with a black-and-gold surface treatment. It measures 3/16 inch (decimal equivalent .1875) and features a 135-degree split-point tip designed for self-centering starts in metal, wood and plastic.
The bit fits any three-jaw chuck that accepts a 3/16″ shank, so no special adapters are required. The split-point geometry reduces wandering on hard surfaces, but excessive feed pressure or insufficient lubrication can still cause premature tip wear or breakage in tough alloys.
High-speed steel construction maintains hardness during repeated drilling cycles, allowing the bit to hold its 135-degree point angle longer than standard carbon-steel alternatives. The black-and-gold finish helps dissipate heat, yet continuous high-speed operation without coolant will eventually degrade edge sharpness and require resharpening.

A properly working 135-degree split point will self-centre on contact and produce short, curled chips rather than long strings. The hole should measure .1875 inch across without wandering.
The box contains the single Westward 5UDD5 jobber-length drill bit. No additional components are included; you will need a compatible drill chuck and cutting fluid for the material you are drilling.
Select this 3/16-inch bit when the job calls for a .1875-inch fractional hole in metal or wood and you want the 135-degree split-point geometry for faster starts and reduced thrust.
