High-speed steel jobber drill bit with 118-degree point and black oxide finish
The Westward #7 HSS black-oxide jobber drill bit is a high-speed steel twist bit with a 118-degree conventional point and a decimal size of .2010 inch. It is aimed at machinists, maintenance technicians and DIY users who need a general-purpose bit for drilling mild steel, cast iron and similar ferrous metals.
A fresh #7 bit restores clean hole size when an older bit has worn below .2010 inch or when a smaller pilot hole must be opened to the exact wire-gauge diameter. The upgrade is worth it when hole tolerance matters for tapping, reaming or fastener fit and the current tool shows wandering, chatter or oversize entry.
The standard 118-degree point works well in rigid setups with flood or mist coolant but can walk on curved surfaces or in handheld drilling without a centre punch. Black-oxide finish aids chip flow in steel yet offers less heat resistance than coated alternatives, so sustained high-speed runs in tough alloys may reduce edge life. Prop 65 warnings apply.

Use a standard drill chuck that accepts a 0.2010 inch straight shank; the jobber length bit fits common three-jaw chucks without a special adapter.
Center-punch the workpiece, apply steady pressure, and let the 118 degree point self-centre without wandering; do not force the bit or use excessive speed.
Replace the bit when the black oxide finish has worn off the cutting lips, the 118 degree point shows visible rounding, or the 0.2010 inch diameter no longer cuts cleanly.
