Adjustable steel bar supports engines up to 0.35 ton across 36 to 61 inch spans
The Westward Engine Transverse Bar is a steel support tool designed for automotive technicians who need to hold an engine or transmission in place during service work. Its painted frame resists corrosion in shop environments. The bar adjusts from 36 to 61 inches to span various engine bay widths.
This adjustable bar replaces fixed-length supports that only fit a single vehicle platform. The telescopic range lets one tool cover multiple engine bay widths, so the upgrade is worth it when a technician services different makes and models regularly. A fixed bar remains adequate for dedicated single-platform work.
The bar is rated for a 0.35 ton load capacity, providing sufficient headroom for most passenger car and light truck engines during removal or installation. It runs out of capacity with heavier diesel powertrains or when additional components remain attached. The painted steel construction handles normal shop use but is not rated for overhead lifting.

The bar telescopes from 36 in to 61 in, covering most transverse-engine compartments without modification.
Extend the bar until both hooks engage the strut towers, then tighten the centre locking collar until the bar is rigid — skipping the collar is the step most users miss.
Check the paint for chips and the threads for corrosion every 65 hours of shop use; replace the bar if the locking collar no longer holds or the finish shows rust.
