1 Inch-8 UNC Tap Set

This Westward hand tap set contains three high-speed steel taps for cutting 1 inch-8 UNC threads. The H4 thread limit suits general-purpose through-hole and blind-hole work in steel and cast iron. Right-hand threads and four flutes provide standard chip evacuation for manual or machine tapping.

Build integration

Bright uncoated finish allows lubricant adhesion and easy inspection of cutting edges. The 2-1/2 inch thread length and 5-1/8 inch overall length fit standard tap wrenches and T-handles. No coating means the taps can be resharpened without stripping a surface treatment.

Capacity and headroom

Three taps cover taper, plug, and bottoming chamfers so one set completes a thread from start to finish. H4 limit gives standard class-of-fit tolerance; it will not meet tighter H3 or looser H5 requirements. Uncoated HSS wears faster in stainless steel or high-temperature alloys.
