Removes broken bolts from 1 in. to 1-3/8 in. threads using a 17/32 in. drill and high-speed steel spiral flutes
This Westward spiral-flute extractor removes damaged right-hand threaded bolts from 1 in. to 1-3/8 in. diameter. The 17/32 in. drill size prepares the hole before the extractor engages. High-speed steel construction resists wear during heavy-duty removal tasks. It suits maintenance crews and machinists who encounter seized large fasteners.
Spiral flutes bite deeper as torque increases, reducing the chance of the extractor slipping or snapping in stubborn bolts. The square drive accepts a standard wrench or tap handle for controlled leverage. The jump is worth it when straight-flute extractors have already failed or when bolt material is particularly hard.
The tool only works on right-hand threads and requires a precisely drilled 17/32 in. hole; an off-centre or oversized hole will cause failure. The .602 in. square drive limits the maximum torque you can apply without a dedicated holder. Extremely corroded or heat-treated bolts may still require heat or a different removal method.

The extractor is designed for a 17/32 in drill bit to create the pilot hole before extraction.
Fit a 0.602 in square-drive wrench or socket onto the extractor's drive end and turn counter-clockwise; the spiral flutes bite as you apply steady torque.
Replace it once the spiral flutes show visible rounding or chipping, as dull flutes lose grip on right-hand threaded bolts between 1 in and 1-3/8 in.
