  • 89 dB sensitivity produces loud output with less power
  • 40–20 Hz range reaches deep low frequencies

10-inch free-air subwoofer

The Wet Sounds RECON 10 is a 10-inch car subwoofer built for infinite-baffle installations. It delivers 200 watts RMS and 400 watts peak power at a 4-ohm impedance. The driver suits buyers who want deep bass without a dedicated enclosure. It is not for systems that require a sealed or ported box for tuning.

Build and mounting

A Nylas composite frame and injection-moulded composite cone resist moisture and vibration in open-air locations. The signature Santoprene spider maintains suspension control when the driver operates without a box. A white XW grille covers the cone and matches light-coloured interiors. The free-air design lets installers use the cargo area or trunk space as the effective enclosure.

Interface limits

Frequency response spans 40 to 20 Hz with 89 dB sensitivity at one watt and one metre. The 4-ohm load works with most mono amplifiers rated for that impedance. Output is limited by the lack of a tuned enclosure, so very low extension below 40 Hz will be reduced. Amplifier power should match the 200-watt RMS rating to avoid thermal compression.

Questions about this item

What does the 4 ohm impedance mean for amplifier matching?

The 4 ohm impedance lets you wire the subwoofer to a mono amplifier rated for 200 watts RMS at 4 ohms or bridge a two-channel amp for the same load.

How much depth does the RECON 10 need behind the mounting surface?

The free-air design requires no sealed box, so only the motor structure depth behind the panel matters; measure your cavity against the basket height before cutting.

How do I wire the RECON 10 to avoid a short at the terminals?

Connect positive to positive and negative to negative on the dual voice coils, then run a single pair to the amplifier; reversing one coil cancels output and can damage the amp.
