M8×1 Bottoming Tap for Metric Fine Threads

The Widia VTSFT-TC5557 is a high-speed steel spiral-flute tap designed to cut M8×1 metric fine threads in blind holes. Its bottoming chamfer and black oxide finish suit production and maintenance work where full thread depth is required. Machinists and toolroom technicians use it on steel and stainless alloys.

Replaces Worn or Incorrect Taps in Blind-Hole Jobs

Switch to this tap when an existing tool no longer holds size, chips clog the flutes, or a plug chamfer cannot reach the bottom of the hole. The 17.5 mm thread length and D5 limit cover standard 6H class fits. The jump is worth it when thread gauge failures or broken taps slow the cycle.

Straightforward CNC or Hand Rigid Tapping

Clamp the tap in a synchronous holder or rigid collet and run at the recommended speed for high-speed steel. Use a 7.00 mm drill for the 75 percent thread depth and apply cutting fluid to prevent built-up edge. The three flutes evacuate chips upward, but chip packing remains the main failure mode if peck cycles are skipped.
