1/4 in Drive 6 mm Hex Socket

The Wiha Tools 31327 is a 1/4 inch drive metric socket with a 6 mm hex opening and 6-point geometry. It is made from alloy steel with a chrome finish for hand-tool use. The socket meets ASTM F1505, CSA, EN/IEC 60900, NFPA70E and VDE standards for insulated tools.

Insulated hand-tool upgrade

This socket replaces non-insulated 6 mm sockets when work must comply with electrical-safety standards. The jump is worth it whenever live-circuit exposure is possible and VDE or NFPA70E compliance is required.

Electricians and maintenance technicians

It suits professionals who need a single insulated 6 mm socket for panel work or equipment service. Buyers who want more storage or a full insulated set should look at something else.

Questions about this item

What drive size fits this 6 mm hex socket?

The socket uses a 1/4 in drive, so it fits standard 1/4 in ratchets or extensions.

How do I install this insulated socket correctly?

Press the socket onto the 1/4 in drive until the ball detent clicks; the step often missed is verifying the click so the socket cannot slip off under load.

When should this VDE-rated socket be replaced?

Replace it if the insulation shows cracks, cuts or discolouration, because damaged insulation voids the EN/IEC 60900 protection for live work.
