Wilson 305-485 Fiberglass Whip

The Wilson 305-485 is a 3-foot fiberglass whip antenna built for mobile CB radio installations. Its silver-plated copper conductor and tunable tip design suit drivers who need reliable transmit and receive performance on the road.

3/8-Inch Rod With 18-Gauge Conductor

The 3/8-inch diameter fiberglass rod houses an 18-gauge silver-plated copper wire for efficient power transfer across the CB band. The fully linear top-loaded design maximises radiated output, while the tunable tip allows precise SWR adjustment. The antenna handles standard CB power levels but is not rated for high-power linear amplifier use.

Upgrade From Fixed-Tip Steel Whips

This antenna replaces fixed-tip steel whips that cannot be trimmed for optimal SWR on a specific vehicle. The chromed brass ferrule with 3/8 x 24 threads fits standard mounts, and the white PVC weather covering resists UV and moisture. Buyers who need a shorter low-profile antenna or a heavy-duty spring base should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 3/8 x 24 chromed brass ferrule on this Wilson 305-485 whip fit the 3/8-inch mount already on my vehicle?

Yes, the standard 3/8 x 24 chromed brass ferrule is designed to thread onto any common 3/8-inch antenna mount you are currently using.

How can I confirm the tunable tip is correctly adjusted after installation?

Use an SWR meter to check the standing-wave ratio; adjust the tunable tip until you achieve the lowest SWR reading on your operating channels.

Does the box include the coaxial cable and mount, or only the whip itself?

The package contains the 3-foot fiberglass whip with integrated ferrule, tunable tip, ground lead and weather cap; cable and mount are sold separately.
