A 5-inch ductile-iron bench vise with 5-1/4-inch jaw opening, 3-3/4-inch throat depth, swivel base, integrated pipe jaws and high-visibility finish
The Wilton 1550 is a 5 inch jaw-width bench vise built for standard-duty clamping in workshops and garages. Its high-visibility finish improves sight lines during layout and assembly tasks. The swivel base rotates 360 degrees to position workpieces at any angle. Integrated pipe jaws accept 1/4 inch to 2-1/2 inch round stock.
This model replaces stationary vises that limit workpiece orientation. The 360 degree swivel base eliminates the need to unbolt and reposition the tool for angled cuts or welds. Serrated jaw faces grip flat stock securely without slippage. The 5-1/4 inch maximum opening handles thicker sections than many entry-level units.
Ductile iron construction resists deflection when the spindle is tightened fully for long periods. Replaceable jaw inserts extend service life after repeated serration wear. The 3 3/4 inch throat depth accommodates deeper workpieces without bottoming out. Standard-duty rating suits intermittent production rather than continuous heavy-forging cycles.

The swivel base clamps to benches up to the throat depth of 3 3/4 in, so any top thinner than that will fit.
They forget to lock the 360-degree swivel base with the handle before tightening the mounting bolts, so the vise can rotate under load.
Replace the reversible jaw inserts once the serrations wear smooth enough that workpieces slip during clamping.
