Wilton 21236 Sledge Hammer

The Wilton 21236 is a 12 lb sledge hammer built for heavy demolition and driving tasks. Its 38 in overall length and steel construction suit professional tradespeople and serious DIY users who need maximum striking force.

Unbreakable Handle Technology and rubber grip

The steel handle features Unbreakable Handle Technology and a textured rubber grip that resists slipping during swings. The handle is not replaceable, so damage to the shaft means replacing the entire tool. A lanyard hole allows tethering for safety at height.

Drop forged steel head under sustained use

The drop forged steel head has a 2 1/4 in round face on both sides for consistent impact. Steel handles transmit more vibration than wood or fibreglass during prolonged sessions, which can increase user fatigue. The 36 in handle length provides leverage but requires adequate swing clearance.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Wilton 21236 sledge hammer is performing correctly after first use?

After striking, check that the 2 1/4 in round faces show no mushrooming and the steel handle remains straight; the unbreakable handle technology should prevent bending under normal impact.

What comes with the Wilton 21236 and what must I purchase separately?

The box contains the complete 12 lb sledge hammer with its 36 in steel handle, black rubber grip and lanyard hole; no additional components or replacement handles are included or required.

Which version of the Wilton 21236 should I choose for heavy demolition work?

The single listed specification — 12 lb head weight, 38 in overall length, double-faced drop-forged steel head — is the only configuration offered for this model.
