Wilton 406 C-Clamp 6600 lb

The Wilton 406 is a regular-duty C-clamp built for steel fabrication, industrial maintenance and repair work. It suits tradespeople who need a strong, forged steel clamp for holding workpieces during welding, assembly or machining tasks.

Capacity and headroom

Rated at 6600 lb clamping force, the 400 series handles heavy structural steel and thick plate without yielding. The ACME rolled spindle with black oxide coating provides smooth, high-torque adjustment, while the v-grooved anvil secures round and flat stock alike.

Thermals noise and power

As a manual hand tool it produces no heat, noise or electrical draw during operation. The drop-forged steel frame and replaceable Perma-Pads resist wear from repeated high-load cycles in workshop environments.

Questions about this item

Will the 6600 lb clamping force damage older steel workpieces I still use?

The 6600 lb capacity is a maximum rating; you control the actual force by hand-tightening the ACME rolled spindle, so lighter pressure can be applied to older or thinner steel without over-stressing it.

How can I verify the Perma-Pads are gripping correctly after I tighten the clamp?

The v-grooved anvil centres round or flat stock, and the replaceable Perma-Pads should sit flush against the workpiece with no visible tilt or slip when the spindle is snug.

Does the box include extra Perma-Pads or must I buy them separately?

The clamp ships with Perma-Pads fitted; replacements are available separately if the original pads wear out.
