Magnetic jaw caps for 5.5 in vises

These aluminium caps attach magnetically to any vise with 5.5 in jaws. They are designed for machinists and fabricators who need to protect both the vise faces and the workpiece from marring during clamping. The pair supplies one cap for each jaw.

Two caps cover both jaws completely

Each cap measures 5.5 in wide by 5.5 in long, matching the full jaw width so the contact surface is uniform across the workpiece. The aluminium construction resists deformation under normal shop loads but will yield before hardened steel jaws if excessive force is applied.

Magnetic mounting speeds changeovers

The integrated magnets hold the caps firmly in place without bolts or adhesives, allowing rapid removal when the raw vise faces are needed. Aluminium jaws also reduce the risk of sparking when clamping ferrous parts, a practical benefit in mixed-material environments.

Questions about this item

Will the 5.5 in magnetic jaw caps fit the 5.5 in vise jaws on my older bench vise?

Yes, the caps are designed for a 5.5 in vise jaw width and work with any vise type.

How can I confirm the caps are holding securely once installed on the vise?

The magnetic backing grips the vise jaws instantly; a firm tug should not dislodge them during use.

Does the pair include mounting hardware or do I need to buy screws separately?

No screws are required — the caps attach magnetically and the box contains the two aluminium caps only.
