What the EZ Clean Downspout Wedge does

The EZ Clean Downspout Wedge is a gutter clamp that sits where the downspout meets the gutter. Its patented wedge shape creates a self-cleaning slope that pushes leaves and debris upward so wind can blow them away. Water flows through freely while the screen stops blockages before they start. Homeowners and property managers use it to keep drainage clear without frequent ladder work.

Installation and common issues

The wedge slides into the downspout opening and needs no tools or fasteners. Most people finish the job in minutes. For centre-drain gutters, two wedges are placed back-to-back. The main mistake is forcing the wedge into a non-standard outlet; the product is designed for standard gutters only, so an odd-sized or damaged opening will prevent a proper fit.

Limits of the standard gutter interface

The wedge relies on a standard gutter outlet to seat correctly. If the existing opening is oversized, corroded or an unusual shape, the clamp cannot seal and debris will bypass the screen. The 2000 drainage increase is measured against conventional flat filters, not against an open downspout. Heavy sediment or pine needles that do not ride the slope may still accumulate and require occasional checks.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the EZ Clean Downspout Wedge is draining properly after installation?

During rainfall, water should flow freely through the sloped screen and exit the downspout without pooling at the gutter junction. The self-cleaning wedge design pushes leaves up the slope so wind can clear them, keeping the opening clear.

What comes in the package and what extra items are needed?

Each unit includes one wedge screen measuring 9 1 by 2 by 2. 5 by 8in and weighing about 1 lb. No additional parts are required for a single downspout; buy a second wedge only if you have a centre-drain gutter and want to install them back-to-back.

Which version should I choose for a standard corner downspout versus a centre-drain gutter?

Use one wedge for a corner downspout; use two wedges placed back-to-back for a centre-drain gutter. Both configurations fit standard gutters and provide the same 2000% drainage increase over conventional filters.
