What this hub adds to a USB-C MacBook

The WRIARICH CM2017L8 expands a single USB-C port on 2016 2017 2018 MacBook models into eight connections. You gain one USB 3.0 port one USB 2.0 port a 4K HDMI output an RJ45 Ethernet jack SD and TF card slots a USB-C data port and 87W Power Delivery pass-through. It is built for users who need legacy USB-A devices wired networking external displays and card readers without carrying multiple dongles.

Check your host port and power needs

Verify that your computer provides a USB-C port capable of video alt mode and Power Delivery input. The hub draws its operating power from the host so the connected charger must supply enough wattage for both the hub and the laptop. Confirm the 4K HDMI output matches your monitor resolution and refresh expectations. The SD and TF slots share one controller so only one card can be active at a time.

Steady performance during long sessions

The aluminium housing acts as a heatsink keeping the controller stable during continuous 5 Gbps data transfers and sustained 4K video output. Ethernet throughput remains consistent over extended downloads because the RJ45 controller does not throttle under load. Power Delivery pass-through maintains the negotiated 87W contract without cycling even when all downstream ports are active simultaneously.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and do I need to buy any cables or adapters separately?

The box contains the 8-in-1 USB-C hub only; no extra cables or adapters are included, so have a USB-C cable and an HDMI cable ready if you want to use the video output.

How do I choose between the USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on this hub?

Use the single USB 3.0 port for external SSDs or flash drives that benefit from the 5 Gbps transfer rate; reserve the USB 2.0 port for keyboards, mice or other low-bandwidth peripherals.

What does the 87W Power Delivery rating mean when the hub is connected to my MacBook?

The hub can pass up to 87 W from your charger to the laptop, so the MacBook charges while the hub drives 4K HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, card readers and both USB ports simultaneously.
