What this cable does

This USB-C extension cable adds 6.6 feet of reach between a host and a peripheral. It carries data at up to 10 Gbps, delivers up to 100 W of power and passes 4K video at 60 Hz. It is suited for laptop users who need extra length for docks, displays or chargers.

The spec that decides fit

The cable follows the USB 3.1 Gen 2 standard and is marked as Thunderbolt 3 compatible, yet it will not function with any Thunderbolt 3 dock, hub or cable. Check the device you plan to extend — if it requires Thunderbolt 3 tunnelling, this extender will not work.

Install notes and common issues

Plug the male end into the host and the female end into your device; no drivers are required. The nylon braid and aluminium shells survive repeated bending, but the 2-metre length can introduce signal loss for marginally compliant hosts. Avoid tight coils near power adapters to reduce interference.

Questions about this item

How fast is the 10Gbps rating when I am actually moving files?

The cable supports USB 3.1 Gen2 at 10Gbps so a 5GB file typically finishes in 5 to 10 seconds.

What does the Thunderbolt 3 label mean for everyday use?

Thunderbolt 3 is supported for charging and video but the cable will not work with Thunderbolt 3 docks, hubs or cables.

What do I need on my device for the male plug to connect?

A USB-C port on the host side accepts the male connector; the female end then takes any USB-C cable or device.
