What this player is

The WSJSYH DVP-608 is a new standard-definition DVD player designed for home entertainment. It reads all-region DVDs, CDs, VCDs and SVCDs plus MP3 and JPEG files from disc or USB. The unit ships with both HDMI and RCA cables for quick connection to modern or older televisions.

Region-free playback decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is region-free DVD playback combined with 1080p upscaling over HDMI. It handles DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW and USB drives up to 128 GB formatted in FAT32. Blu-ray discs are not supported and NTFS or exFAT USB formats will not work.

Build integration

Connect the included HDMI cable to a free HDMI input on your television or use the RCA outputs for legacy sets. The player draws power from a standard mains lead and needs no network connection or firmware updates. Its lightweight 2.16 lb chassis sits on any shelf and the supplied remote controls all functions.

Questions about this item

What does the 1080p upscaling actually deliver on my TV?

The 12-bit/108MHz video DAC produces smoother colour gradations and sharper contrasts, so standard DVDs appear closer to full-HD quality on a 1080p display.

How does the single HDMI output limit my audio setup?

HDMI carries both 1080p video and 5.1-channel audio in one cable, but there is no separate digital audio output for older receivers that lack HDMI.

Will the player fit in a standard AV cabinet shelf?

At 2.16 lb the unit is light and compact enough for most shelves, and the included HDMI and RCA cables reach typical rear-panel connections without strain.
