Battery-free radar tail light for eBikes

This rear-view radar and tail light attaches to compatible eBikes without a separate battery, drawing power through a Garmin eBike cable sold separately. The 24 GHz radar detects vehicles approaching from behind up to 150 yards and pairs with select Garmin wearables, Edge computers or the Varia smartphone app. Cyclists who want automatic alerts without charging another device will find it suited to daily commutes and longer rides. IP65 weather resistance and low-power operation

The unit carries an IP65 rating, so it resists dust ingress and low-pressure water jets encountered in rain or road spray. Its compact plastic housing measures 1.6 by 3.1 by .8 inches and weighs 1.8 ounces, adding minimal drag or bulk. Because it draws power directly from the eBike system, there is no internal battery to deplete or manage, and the radar runs continuously while the bike is powered on. No fan or active cooling is present, so operation remains silent.

Four light modes and wireless updates

The tail light offers four selectable modes: solid, peloton mode, night flash and day flash, providing daytime visibility up to one mile away. Connectivity uses ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy to link with compatible devices, and firmware updates are applied via the Varia app on a smartphone or Garmin Express on a laptop. A universal seat-rail mount and a rack or pannier mount are included, allowing flexible placement on different frame styles. No additional software licences or subscription services are required.
