What it is

The Wusthof 10" Deluxe Steel is a honing tool designed to realign the edge of your kitchen knives. It features a slightly larger shaft and a more substantial handle than standard models. Daily use keeps blades performing between professional sharpenings.

When to add it

This steel replaces makeshift or worn honing rods that no longer true a blade effectively. The jump is worth it when knives feel dull despite recent sharpening and a quick realignment restores cutting control.

Limits of honing

A honing steel realigns the existing edge but does not remove metal to create a new one. Once the blade is truly dull, a sharpener or professional service is required to restore the bevel.

Questions about this item

How long is the steel shaft on this Wusthof honing steel?

The shaft measures 10 inches, giving ample length for full strokes along most kitchen knives.

What is the correct way to use this honing steel without damaging the knife edge?

Hold the steel vertically with the tip on a stable surface, then draw the knife down at a consistent angle using light pressure and alternating sides.

When will this steel no longer keep my knives sharp enough?

When regular honing no longer restores the edge, the knife needs professional sharpening or a whetstone to remove metal and create a new bevel.
