What this is and who needs it

The Xerox 008R13089 waste cartridge collects excess toner during printing on compatible WorkCentre multifunction printers. It supports models 7120, 7125, 7220, 7225 and their i-series variants with a rated yield of 33000 pages.

Installation and common pitfalls

Replacement is a straightforward front-access procedure that requires no tools; the unit slides out and the new one clicks into place. The main risk is forgetting to reset the maintenance counter after installation, which can leave the printer reporting a false full-waste condition.

Practical limits of the waste-cartridge system

The cartridge must be replaced once the 33000-page counter is reached because the printer will stop to prevent toner overflow. It is a single-use component that cannot be emptied or reused, so a spare should be kept on hand for uninterrupted operation.
