Classroom Function Lever Lock

The Yale PB4608LN 626 is a Grade 2 cylindrical lockset built for classroom doors in commercial buildings. Its classroom function allows the outside lever to be locked or unlocked by key while the inside lever always provides free egress. The lock meets ANSI/BHMA A156.2 Grade 2 standards and carries a three-hour fire rating with UL and cUL listings. ADA-compliant lever operation suits accessibility requirements.

Commercial Door Integration

Heavy-gauge steel construction fits standard door thicknesses from 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches with a 2-3/4 inch backset. The 3-3/8 inch rose covers standard bore holes and the 2-1/4 by 4-7/8 inch strike aligns with common frame prep. Dull chrome 626 finish resists wear in high-traffic corridors. Two keys and a six-pin cylinder support keyed-different keying for individual room control.

Grade 2 Mechanical Upgrade

This lock replaces lower-grade residential hardware or worn Grade 2 units where fire-rated, code-compliant security is required. The jump is worth it when building codes demand a three-hour fire rating, ADA lever access, or UL-listed hardware for classroom functions. It does not suit applications needing electrified access control, privacy function, or storeroom function where the outside lever remains locked at all times.
