125 kHz EM4100 USB reader for access control
The YINGHUA IDReader03-04 reads EM4100 cards and tags at 125 kHz over a USB connection. It draws power from the USB port and needs no external supply. The device outputs the first ten decimal digits by default and works driverless on Windows 2000, 2003, XP and Windows 7. It suits access control, hotel locks and utility meter systems.
Check USB port and card compatibility
Verify the host has a standard USB port that can deliver 5 V DC within five percent tolerance. Ensure the cards or tags in use are EM4100 format operating at 125 kHz. The reader reads at five to eight centimetres, so plan the mounting position accordingly. No driver installation is required for the listed Windows versions.
Replaces standalone keyboard wedge readers
This unit upgrades installations that used separate power adapters or PS/2 keyboard wedge interfaces. The USB-powered design removes the need for an extra power brick and simplifies cabling. The jump is worthwhile when moving to a modern PC-based access system that expects a simple plug-and-play HID device.

Questions about this item
Does the reader ship with any cards or tags, or must they be purchased separately?
The box contains only the reader and its USB cable; compatible 125Khz EM4100 cards or tags are sold separately.
The spec lists a default read of the first 10 digits and an option for the last 8 digits — which one should I choose?
Use the default first 10 digit decimal output for most access control systems; request the last 8 digit mode only if your software specifically requires it.
What does the 106Kbit/s communication speed mean for actual door unlocking latency?
At 106Kbit/s over USB the card data reaches the PC in well under a second, so the unlock delay is dominated by your access control software, not the reader.
