2.5 inch SATA Enclosure for SSDs and HDDs

This red ABS enclosure turns a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or solid-state drive into a portable external drive. It connects through a USB 3.0 port with a maximum transfer rate of 5 Gbps. The lightweight shell weighs about 100 g and measures roughly 120 by 76 by 17 mm.

Check your drive and host port

Verify that the drive you plan to install is a 2.5 inch form-factor unit with a SATA interface. The host computer must provide a USB 3.0 type-A or type-C port; USB 2.0 will work but at reduced speed. No separate power adapter is required for typical notebook drives.

Tool-free access and broad OS support

The case opens without tools so you can swap drives quickly. It is compatible with Windows from 98 through 10, Mac OS 8.6 and later, and Linux distributions. Good heat dissipation helps keep the drive cool during extended use.

Questions about this item

Does the red enclosure include a 2.5 inch SATA drive or must I buy one separately?

The enclosure is sold without a drive; you supply any 2.5 inch SATA HDD or SSD yourself.

The spec lists USB 3.0 and 5Gbps — which version should I pick for a SATA 3.0 SSD?

This single model already uses USB 3.0 at 5Gbps, matching SATA 3.0 performance.

What does the 5Gbps rating mean once the case is connected to my laptop?

It sets the peak link speed; actual transfer rates depend on the drive and host controller.
