2.5″ SATA enclosure up to 8 TB

This transparent USB 3.1 drive enclosure accepts any 2.5″ SATA hard drive or SSD up to 8 TB. It connects through a USB 3.0 Type-C port and requires no driver installation. The tool-free sliding cover makes drive swaps quick and simple.

For SATA drive owners needing portable storage

It suits users who want to turn a spare 2.5″ SATA drive into external storage for Windows or Mac systems. Hot-swap support helps with frequent drive changes. Buyers who need faster transfer rates than USB 3.1 provides or who want to use M.2 drives should look at something else.

Theoretical 6 Gb/s SATA link

The enclosure’s SATA interface supports a theoretical maximum of 6 Gb/s, which sets the ceiling for real-world throughput. Actual speeds depend on the installed drive and the host USB port.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum data rate the USB 3.1 interface supports in practice?

The enclosure uses USB 3.1 Gen 1, which is electrically identical to USB 3.0, so real-world throughput tops out around 5 Gb/s despite the 6 Gb/s SATA link.

Which drive heights and form factor does the transparent case accept?

It fits any 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or SSD that is 7 mm or 9.5 mm thick.

How do you install a drive without tools, and what step is often missed?

Slide the cover off, insert the drive into the SATA connector, then slide the cover back until it clicks; the click confirms the drive is fully seated.
