Dual-extrusion hotend for MK8 systems

This all-metal hotend accepts two 1.75 mm filaments and merges them through a single 0.4 mm nozzle. It ships with a 40 W heater cartridge rated for 12 V or 24 V operation, a 100 K thermistor and a cooling fan. The aluminium body replaces a worn or damaged MK8 hotend on compatible printers.

Sustained thermal behaviour

The 40 W cartridge maintains stable nozzle temperature during long multi-material prints without the temperature droop seen in lower-wattage designs. The all-metal construction dissipates heat evenly, so the heat-break zone stays consistent across extended layers. Active fan cooling on the cold side prevents heat creep when printing high-temperature filaments for hours.

Upgrade path and fit

It directly swaps an existing single-extrusion MK8 hotend, adding dual-filament capability without changing the printer frame or motion system. The change is worthwhile when you need soluble support, colour blending or material mixing on a machine that currently runs one filament at a time. It does not suit bowden-only setups or printers that cannot accommodate the wider dual-drive extruder body.
