What it is

The YINGHUA 875 is a SATA and IDE hard-drive docking station with a built-in multi-card reader. It accepts 2.5 and 3.5 inch drives and connects to a PC through a USB 2.0 port. The unit ships with a 12 V power adapter and a USB cable.

Deciding spec

The interface is USB 2.0 with a maximum transmission speed of 480 Mbps. This bandwidth limits transfer rates for modern high-capacity SATA drives. Buyers who need faster throughput should choose a dock with a quicker host connection.

Installation and pitfalls

Drives slide into the slots tool-free and a one-touch backup button starts a copy job without software setup. The dock supports Windows versions from 95 through 7. Newer operating systems may require manual driver installation and the USB 2.0 link will bottleneck large migrations.
