Passive Component With No Power or Cooling

The sensor operates without active cooling, fans or measurable power draw. It produces no audible noise and adds no thermal load to the printer. Installation simply reconnects the existing signal path so normal scanning and copying functions resume immediately.

Questions about this item

How do I install the ADF sensor in my Brother MFC-6890CDW, and which step is most often missed?

Open the automatic document feeder cover, disconnect the old sensor cable, remove the retaining screw, fit the new sensor, secure the screw, reconnect the cable, then close the cover and run a test scan to confirm alignment.

What maintenance or replacement will this ADF sensor need over time?

The sensor itself has no scheduled replacement; keep the ADF glass and rollers clean to prevent dust from triggering false paper-jam signals, and replace the sensor only if scanning errors persist after cleaning.
