Replacement Printhead for Star TUP500 and TUP542

This thermal printhead is built for Star TUP500 and TUP542 self-service terminals. It connects through a parallel port and produces two-colour thermal output for barcodes, labels and bills. The part is supplied new and ready for installation in compatible kiosk hardware.

Upgrades worn printheads in existing kiosks

It replaces a degraded or failed printhead in Star TUP500 or TUP542 units, restoring clear two-colour printing without changing the terminal. The jump is worth it when print quality fades, barcode scans fail or the original head reaches end of life. Buyers needing a different interface or a printer for other terminal models should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What clearance does the YINGHUA printhead need inside the Star TUP500 or TUP542 chassis?

The unit is a direct-replacement printhead for Star TUP500 and TUP542 self-service terminals; it fits the existing mounting frame without extra brackets or adapters.

Which way does the parallel ribbon cable plug into the printhead, and what mistake do installers make?

Align the red-stripe edge of the parallel ribbon with pin 1 on the printhead connector; the common error is inserting it reversed, which prevents communication with the terminal.
