Full-Size Steel Platform Bed

The Zinus Elias is a full-size metal platform bed frame measuring 74.5 in by 53.5 in with a 14.0 in profile. Its all-steel construction eliminates the need for a separate box spring and supports foam, latex, or spring mattresses directly. The frame provides 12.4 inches of clearance beneath the bed base for storage. Assembly requires two people and typically completes in under one hour using included tools.

Replaces Traditional Box Spring Setups

This frame replaces a conventional bed frame plus box spring combination, reducing overall height and component count. The upgrade is worthwhile for sleepers who want a minimalist steel foundation with integrated slats and a 700 lbs weight capacity for full, queen, and king sizes. Twin size capacity is rated at 350 lbs. The painted finish and folding slat design simplify the transition from older box-spring-dependent beds.

Fixed 14-Inch Profile Limits Adjustability

The 14-inch frame height is not adjustable, so under-bed clearance remains fixed at 12.4 inches regardless of mattress thickness. Builders needing variable bed height, adjustable base articulation, or a lower-profile frame for accessibility should consider other designs. The steel slats are integrated and non-removable, preventing the use of alternative support systems or custom slat spacing.

Questions about this item

What are the exact frame dimensions for a Full-size room layout?

The frame measures 74.5 inches long by 53.5 inches wide and stands 14.0 inches tall.

How do the folding slats install, and what step causes the most trouble?

Unfold the slat sections until they lock flat, then secure each end with the supplied bolts; the common mistake is tightening bolts before the slats are fully seated in the side rails.

Will the steel slats or centre supports need replacement over time?

The all-steel slat system is designed for the frame's 700 lb capacity and does not have a scheduled replacement interval under normal use.
