Heat-Set Insert Kit for Threaded Fastening

The Zoro Select EZ-TH100 kit supplies brass heat-set inserts for creating durable threads in thermoplastic parts. It covers sizes from #4-40 up to 1/4"-20 and includes the matching installation tips. The kit suits engineers, makers and repair technicians who need reliable metal threads in printed or moulded plastic components.

Capacity and Headroom Across Included Sizes

With 20 inserts per size across 32 total pieces, the assortment handles light-duty to moderate fastening jobs in common thread diameters. It runs out when a project demands larger than 1/4"-20 threads, higher insert counts per size, or specialised insert profiles such as knurled or tapered variants not present in this set.

Thermals, Noise and Power in Normal Use

Installation relies on a soldering iron or heated tip, so thermal input is brief and localised to each insert. The process generates negligible noise and draws only the power of the heating tool used. No cooling, lubrication or additional equipment is required during typical bench-top operation.

Questions about this item

Will the brass inserts in this kit thread into the #4-40 and 1/4"-20 holes I already have in my older fixture plates?

Yes, the kit covers the full range from #4-40 through 1/4"-20 so the inserts match those existing threads.

How can I confirm each insert is seated flush after heat-setting it with my soldering iron?

The inserts are designed for a flush finish; when the top of the brass ring sits level with the plastic surface the installation is correct.

Does the box include the heated driver tips for the 9/64 in and 5/32 in inserts, or must I buy them separately?

The kit supplies the brass inserts only; the matching heated driver tips for 9/64 in and 5/32 in sizes are sold separately.
