Hex Nut 1/4"-28 Grade 8
Zoro Select Hex Nut 1/4"-28 Grade 8 Zinc Yellow 7/32 is a steel fastener with UNF fine thread. It meets ASME B 18.2.2 dimensional standards and carries a Rockwell hardness of C33 to C39. The zinc yellow finish provides corrosion resistance. Packaged in quantities of 100 for production or maintenance use.
Fine thread UNF 28 TPI fit
The 1/4"-28 thread pitch requires matching UNF bolts or studs for proper engagement. Grade 8 strength suits high clamp load applications where Grade 5 is insufficient. The 7/16 inch hex width fits standard wrenches or sockets. Right hand thread direction follows common assembly practice.
Grade 8 strength headroom
Rockwell C33 to C39 hardness supports demanding tensile and proof load requirements. The 7/32 inch hex height allows standard socket engagement. Not suited for environments requiring stainless or plated alloy corrosion performance. Buyers needing metric threads or left hand rotation must select a different part.

Questions about this item
What is the Rockwell hardness range of the Grade 8 steel used in these 1/4"-28 hex nuts?
The nuts are made from Grade 8 steel with a Rockwell hardness of C33 to C39, providing high strength for demanding fastening applications.
How much heat does the zinc yellow finish add during continuous operation?
The zinc yellow finish is a passive coating that does not generate heat; temperature rise depends entirely on the mechanical load and friction in the joint.
Which wrench size fits the 7/16 inch hex width of these nuts?
A 7/16 inch wrench or socket is required to install or remove these hex nuts.
