Support stays and vertical brackets

Modern graphics cards are heavy, and a support stay or holder stops the card sagging in its slot. Measure the gap between the card and the surface below it, then pick a holder whose adjustment range covers it. Rubber pads and screws keep it from scratching, while ARGB versions need a header to light up.

A vertical bracket mounts the card parallel to the side panel, so the case must have vertical slots and enough clearance for the card thickness. These kits come with a riser cable, so check its PCIe generation: a riser rated for PCIe 5.0 keeps a PCIe 5.0 card at full speed, while an older riser can drag the link down or cause errors. A cable length of 220 mm also needs a path that does not kink.

SLI bridges and what the slot spacing means

SLI bridges link two or more compatible NVIDIA cards, and the listing details decide whether one fits: 2-way versus 3-way, standard or HB, and the slot spacing between cards. A bridge designed for one slot gap will not reach cards that sit two or three slots apart, so measure from connector to connector.

Be realistic about the feature itself. Recent games and graphics cards have largely dropped SLI support, so these bridges are mostly for keeping an older matching pair of cards working together. A single faster card is simpler, quieter and easier to cool. Check that both cards are the same model, and that the motherboard has the slots spaced for the bridge you choose before buying.

Questions about GPU Brackets, Holders and SLI Bridges

Do I need a GPU support bracket?
A bracket is wise for long, heavy cards, especially in a case that is moved. Sag does not always cause damage, but it can stress the slot and the board over time.
Does a vertical mount lower performance?
A good riser cable that matches your card's PCIe generation has little effect. A poor or older-generation cable can force the link to a lower speed or cause crashes, so check the rating.
Is SLI still worth setting up?
For most people, no. Recent cards and games have dropped support, and a single faster card is simpler. A bridge only makes sense to keep an older matching pair of cards working together.
