Online Courses and Certification Prep Collections

Collections and access periods: what the bundle covers

These listings are collections of courses rather than single lessons, each labeled by topic: business skills, cloud and virtualization, CompTIA, databases and big data, developer tools or Office. The title often states an access period such as one year and the number of courses, so work out whether you can finish within that time. Language is part of the title too, for example a Spanish Office pack. Pick a collection that matches the role or exam you are heading toward.

Preparing for an exam is not the same as taking it

A course collection teaches the material; the certification itself is awarded by the vendor or certifying body after you pass an exam, normally booked separately. Check the exam code and objectives published by the certifier and compare them with the topics in the collection, since exams are updated and old versions retire. Listings that say 'certification' in the title describe preparation material unless they state that an exam voucher is included. Look for whether hands-on labs or practice tests are listed.

Questions about Online Courses and Certification Prep Collections

Does a certification bundle include the exam?

Usually not. Bundles supply the learning material, and the exam is booked and sat separately with the certifying body. Only listings that state an exam voucher is included should be assumed to cover the exam.

How do I match a course collection to my exam?

Find the exam code and objectives on the certifier's page, then compare them with the collection's topics and release year. If the exam version has changed, choose material that covers the current one.

What happens when the access period ends?

You lose access to the course library unless it is renewed or extended, so plan your study schedule to finish before then. Check whether progress records or completion certificates remain available afterwards.
