Direct-fit OEM replacement

This unit is a factory OEM radio for the 2006 Buick Lucerne, remanufactured and upgraded with Bluetooth music streaming. It retains the original AM FM tuner and single-disc CD player while adding wireless audio from a smartphone or tablet. The part number 15849253 matches the US8 option code for exact vehicle fitment.

Pre-unlocked plug-and-play operation

The radio arrives code-cleared and unlocked at the supplier location, removing the usual dealer pairing step after installation. Standard factory features remain intact and no additional programming is required for basic operation. Vehicles with special sound systems may still need dealer configuration for those specific functions.

Bluetooth music via auxiliary input

Audio streaming works by pairing a Bluetooth device and pressing the existing Aux button on the faceplate. No extra harnesses, microphones or external modules are included; the upgrade uses the factory auxiliary input circuitry already present in the original design.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 15849253 radio in my 2006 Buick Lucerne and what step is often missed?

The unit is unlocked for plug-and-play use, but you must still pair it to the vehicle using the VIN so the car recognises the radio; skipping that dealer or scan-tool step leaves the radio non-functional.

What maintenance or replacement will the 15849253 receiver need over time?

The single-disc CD mechanism may eventually fail to read discs, and the internal backup battery that stores presets and the unlock code will require replacement when it no longer holds memory.

What is the first limitation I will hit during long drives with Bluetooth streaming on the 15849253?

Extended Bluetooth audio streaming can cause the remanufactured unit to overheat, leading to thermal shutdown or intermittent audio until the radio cools down.
