Direct Replacement for 2017 Chevrolet Models

This 1 Factory Radio unit carries part number 42532827 and fits 2017 Cruze, Malibu, Sonic and Trax vehicles. It delivers AM and FM reception plus a satellite receiver in an OEM housing. The unit has been cleaned, serviced and tested to 100 percent working order. It is sold strictly as a direct replacement for the factory radio.

Replaces Matching Factory Radio Only

The radio swaps directly for an identical part number 42532827 or the listed compatible numbers 42532849, 428815169 and 42481577. Interchange part number 638-10979 is also referenced. The jump is worth it when your current radio has failed and you have verified the exact part number. A dealer unlock is required after installation before the unit will operate.

For Owners Confirming Exact Part Compatibility

This unit suits owners who have matched their VIN to part number 42532827 and accept a mandatory dealer unlock. It is not for buyers who cannot confirm the part number, who want a plug-and-play upgrade without dealer involvement, or whose vehicles use an external amplifier that prevents interchange. Professional installation and dealer programming are prerequisites.

Questions about this item

Does the 42532827 radio fit the factory dashboard opening in a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu?

Yes, the unit is built to the original equipment dimensions for the 2017 Cruze, Malibu, Sonic and Trax, so it slides into the existing dash cavity without modification.

What is the dealer unlock step that people forget after plugging in the 42532827 unit?

After installation the radio must be unlocked with a dealer scan tool; without this five-minute programming the unit will not operate, even though power and data connections are correct.

If the 42532827 receiver fails later, which interchange numbers identify a direct replacement?

The compatible part numbers are 42532849, 428815169 and 42481577, plus the interchange reference 638-10979; any of those will match the original data stream.
