Direct-Fit Replacement for Subaru Legacy

This remanufactured radio receiver carries part number 86201-AJ61A and matches the CE617U1 option code used in 2012-2014 Subaru Legacy models. It combines AM/FM tuning with a single-disc CD player in the original dashboard footprint. The unit is intended as a direct replacement only; vehicles with a different part number or external amplifier may not accept it.

Sustained Operation Behaviour

The receiver is professionally remanufactured to 100% working order, so daily use of radio and CD playback remains stable over long drives. Internal data streams are calibrated to the factory specification, preventing the coding mismatches that cause intermittent shutdowns in mismatched units. Cosmetic blemishes on the vinyl face do not affect electronic performance.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The unit draws power from the vehicle’s standard radio circuit without additional wiring or cooling requirements. No unlock code is needed after installation, so the system powers up silently and maintains normal operating temperature. Light scratches at the top and bottom of the face are purely visual and have no thermal or acoustic impact.

Questions about this item

Does the 86201-AJ61A run hot or draw extra power during all-day driving?

The remanufactured receiver operates on the vehicle's standard 12 V system with no additional cooling or power requirements beyond the factory harness.

What must already be in the 2012-2014 Subaru Legacy for this CE617U1 unit to function?

The car must currently have the exact part number 86201-AJ61A or interchange 638-59309 installed; otherwise data-stream differences will prevent coding.

Will the 86201-AJ61A work alongside the original steering-wheel controls and external amplifier if the Legacy still has them?

Yes, the replacement uses the factory plugs and data stream, so steering-wheel buttons and any fitted external amp remain fully operational.
