12 VDC 300 A Solenoid Relay

This 12 VDC solenoid relay handles continuous currents up to 150 A and transient peaks of 300 A. It suits automotive, marine, golf cart and winch circuits where a normally open contact is required. The four-terminal design with 5/16"-24 studs fits existing brackets on EZGO Marathon models from 1979 to 1994 and other listed replacements.

Continuous and Peak Current Capacity

The coil draws 10.2 W at 14 Ω resistance and is rated for continuous duty below 150 A. Peak transient current reaches 300 A for short durations, but sustained operation above the continuous rating will cause overheating. The supplier specifies a cycle of five seconds on followed by fifty minutes off to avoid thermal damage.

Thermal Behaviour and Power Draw

The potted coil interior resists dust, dirt and moisture, helping the relay run cooler in harsh environments. In normal use the unit dissipates 10.2 W and remains within safe temperature limits when the duty cycle is observed. Continuous operation without the prescribed cool-down period leads to excessive heat, short-circuit risk or fire.
