3M 11823 Quick Change Hub 4-1/2 Inch

The 3M 11823 is a round backup pad hub designed for 4-1/2 inch fibre discs with the Quick Change GL mounting system. It fits angle grinders and sanders that accept a 5/8-11 threaded hole connector. This hub is built for metal fabrication, weld blending and surface preparation tasks where fast disc changes are required.

Installation uses the 5/8-11 threaded hole

The hub threads directly onto the tool spindle with a 5/8-11 connection, so no separate flange nut is needed. Quick Change GL discs snap onto the hub face and release with a quarter turn. Common issues arise when the spindle thread is worn or when a disc is not fully seated, causing vibration or disc ejection under load.

Quick Change GL system limits compatibility

Only fibre discs equipped with the 3M Quick Change GL attachment can be used on this hub; hook-and-loop or adhesive-backed discs will not engage. The hub works with the manufacturer model numbers listed in the specifications and is not suited for tools with M14 or other spindle threads. Disc diameter must match the 4-1/2 inch hub face for safe operation.
