Electrical Insulation Putty for Irregular Surfaces

This 3M Scotchfil putty is designed for electricians and maintenance technicians who need to insulate fittings, valves and other non-uniform shapes. The self-fusing mastic adhesive conforms tightly without corroding the underlying conductor. It is supplied as a continuous roll measuring 1-1/2 in by 60 in at 125 mil thickness.

Build Quality and Daily Handling

The mastic formulation remains pliable across a wide temperature range from 32 to 176 degrees Fahrenheit, so it can be applied in cool plant rooms or warm equipment bays without losing adhesion. Each roll is 5 ft long and the self-fusing format means no separate liner to remove, speeding up wrap jobs on site. A standard pack contains 12 rolls for crew use.

Voltage and Temperature Limits

The product carries a 600 V rating, which defines the maximum system voltage it is intended to insulate. Performance is only guaranteed between the stated minimum and maximum temperatures; outside that window the adhesive properties may change. It is not designed for high-voltage applications beyond 600 V or for environments that exceed the 176 degree upper limit.
