3M 4304 Surface Conditioning Disc Power

6-Inch Hook-and-Loop Disc

The 3M 4304 is a non-woven surface-conditioning disc designed for use with hook-and-loop backing pads on random-orbital or rotary sanders. Its very-fine aluminum-oxide grade targets light finishing, blending and cleaning tasks on metal, composite or painted surfaces. The blue colour coding identifies the grade at a glance in a busy workshop.

Non-Vacuum Interface Limits

Because the disc has no vacuum holes, dust and debris remain on the work surface and the abrasive face during operation. Users must pause frequently to clear the disc or rely on external extraction to maintain cut quality and prevent loading. The hook-and-loop attachment allows quick changes but cannot compensate for the lack of through-hole evacuation.

Very-Fine Grade Headroom

The very-fine aluminum-oxide coating comfortably handles light oxidation removal, scuff-sanding clear coats and blending scratch patterns left by coarser grits. It runs out when aggressive stock removal, heavy rust stripping or rapid dimensioning are required, at which point a coarser-grade disc or a bonded abrasive becomes necessary.
