High-temperature polyimide film tape with silicone adhesive withstands -100 °F to 500 °F in a 36-yard roll
This 3M 5413 tape uses a polyimide film with a silicone adhesive designed for continuous operation from minus 100 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The amber roll measures one-quarter inch wide by 36 yards long with a 2.7 mil thickness. It is supplied as a new, single-sided continuous roll.
The tape suits electrical insulation, coil wrapping and masking tasks that exceed the limits of standard vinyl or rubber tapes. Buyers who require a voltage-rated insulating tape should look elsewhere because this product carries no voltage rating. Anyone needing a wider roll or a different adhesive chemistry will need another product.
The 500 degree Fahrenheit upper limit is the single specification that determines whether this tape survives the application. If the operating environment stays below that threshold, the polyimide film and silicone adhesive maintain their physical and electrical properties. Exceeding it risks degradation and failure.

Clean the surface, then unroll the 36 yd roll slowly while pressing the silicone adhesive down with a roller or fingertip to avoid bubbles on the 2.7 mil film.
Replace it once the operating temperature exceeds 500 °F or drops below -100 °F, because the polyimide film and silicone adhesive are rated only within that range.
The 2.7 mil polyimide backing and silicone adhesive begin to degrade when sustained heat reaches the 500 °F maximum performance temperature.
