17-inch PSA sanding discs for surface preparation

These 3M silicon-carbide discs use a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing for quick attachment to compatible backing pads. The non-woven mesh construction resists loading and delivers a consistent medium-grade finish on metal, wood or composite surfaces. Each pack contains twelve discs, making it convenient for production runs or repeated refinishing tasks.

Series 29840 non-vacuum discs with 100-grit rating

The 17-inch diameter covers large panels in fewer passes, while the 100-grit silicon carbide cuts efficiently without leaving deep scratches. Without vacuum holes the discs rely on the mesh structure to shed dust, so they suit workshops that run non-vacuum sanding systems. Finer finishing stages or heavy stock removal will require a different grit grade.

Questions about this item

Will the 17-inch diameter 100-grit discs fit my older 17-inch rotary sander?

Yes, the 17-inch diameter matches standard 17-inch rotary sanders and the PSA backing adheres directly to the tool's pad without extra hardware.

How can I confirm the silicon-carbide mesh discs are cutting correctly once installed?

The surface should show a consistent scratch pattern from the 100-grit mesh, and the non-woven material will not load up as quickly as paper-backed discs when sanding paint or primer.
