A Type 29 ceramic flap disc for aggressive grinding on a 4-1/2 inch angle grinder at up to 13,300 RPM
This 3M Cubitron II flap disc is a coated abrasive designed for grinding and finishing metal surfaces. It features a ceramic grain on a polyester backing with a fiberglass plate for durability. The Type 29 angled face allows effective stock removal and contour blending on angle grinders.
Suited for weld grinding, deburring and edge chamfering on ferrous metals where a coarse 40 grit is required. The closed-coat ceramic construction resists loading during heavy use. Not suited for fine finishing, polishing or work on soft non-ferrous materials where loading would occur quickly.
The 40 grit grade defines the aggressiveness and surface profile this disc will produce. It determines material removal rate and the scratch pattern left on the workpiece. Select this grit only when coarse grinding is the explicit goal; finer surface preparation requires a higher grit number.

The disc mounts on a standard 7/8 in arbor; the unthreaded hole slides on and is secured with the grinder's locking nut.
Remove the old disc, slide the 4 1/2 in disc onto the 7/8 in arbor, thread the flange nut finger-tight, then snug with the spanner wrench — do not over-tighten.
Replace when the maroon flaps wear down to the fiberglass backing plate or cutting rate drops noticeably; the closed-coat ceramic grain stays sharp longer than conventional abrasives.
