3M Dual Lock Type 250 is a black adhesive fastener with 250 stems per square inch and an engaged thickness of .23 inches. The acrylic 300 LSE adhesive bonds to metals, glass and medium-to-high surface energy plastics and paint. Mushroom-shaped stems on a polypropylene carrier interlock for 5X greater closure strength than hook and loop.

Practical limits of stem density

Type 250 fasteners mate with type 170, 250 or 400 counterparts, and the combined stem number determines closure strength. The closure life is rated at 1000 cycles, so repeated opening and closing will eventually reduce holding power. The carrier thickness is 140 mils with a 4 mil liner, setting the minimum gap the fastener can bridge.

Replaces screws, clips and hook and loop

This fastener replaces conventional screws, clips, rivets, snaps, bolts and hook and loop where access or repositioning is needed. It is suited for doors, access panels, signs, cushions, headliners, display components and similar assemblies. The jump is worth it when a strong, removable bond is required without tools or permanent holes.
